			The SIDE Design Hotel is a twelve-story futuristic design hotel with an imposing glass and stone façade located in the centre of Hamburg, between Gansemarkt square and the State Opera House. The 178 air-conditioned guestrooms pay homage to luxurious modern design, with an emphasis on clean lines and simple shapes. Muted off-whites predominate above parquet wood and carpet floors. All feature satellite TV, pay-TV, fax, ISDN and modem connections, minibars, safes and two phones with voicemail. Bathrooms feature bathtubs and showers, hairdryers, bathrobes and cosmetic mirrors. Guests can dine in Fusion Restaurant which serves European and Asian cuisine and has a sushi bar. The Fusion Bar has a DJ playing music from Thursday to Saturday. The eighth floor lounge and outdoor terrace offer views of the city's skyline towards the port and Alster Lake. Guests can unwind with a massage, or make use of leisure facilities, including a pool, beauty and fitness area, sauna and steam bath. The hotel's SIDE spa opened in February 2005 and treatments include Thai massage, facials and lymphatic drainage and a 15-minute lunchtime massage service. The hotel can provide personal shopping services and help with reserving tickets, and room service is available around the clock. Three function rooms are arranged around the atrium on the open gallery of the first floor, offer space for up to 100 people. The largest function room fits 300 for celebrations and conferences. The shopping area is within 500 metres and the church of St Michael, the emblem of the city, is 1.5 kilometres from the hotel, while the Reeperbahn and St. Pauli district, famed for its nightlife, is two kilometres away.
